For as long as I can remember, I have always been passionate about creating uniquely detailed gatherings with an amazing ambiance, delicious food and exciting entertainment.
Daughter to immigrant Nicaraguan parents, I was raised celebrating Hispanic customs and traditions from their homeland. From folklore dancing, to traditional foods and beverages, our family gatherings were large, long-lasting and fun! While the matriarchs cooked, my female cousins and I would set up the tables, place settings and decor for the celebration. Born and raised in the United States, I’ve had the privilege to celebrate the customs and traditions of various cultures. Along the way I learned the unique details that make each culture’s celebrations extraordinary and today I find ways to include these in my event designs.
In high school, I was the girl who was always planning get-together’s and group outings. My Quinceañera and Sweet 16′s were festivities way ahead of their time. Before MTV was spotlighting these big parties, I was designing my own trendy invitations and contracting popular South Beach nightclub DJ’s to host a large group of guests.
Beginning in the Fall of 1999 at Florida International University, I joined an elite social organization where I was elected and re-elected to hold committee and board positions that produced social events on and off campus. During my active membership within Delta Phi Epsilon, I partnered with other chairwomen in the design, production and management of our exclusive philanthropic fundraisers and member social events.
Prior to establishing Iliana Taleno & Associates, I was a professional Visual, Brand and Marketing Manager for six years within the fashion industry. In my time at each of these multi-million dollar brands, Victoria’s Secret and BCBGMAXAZRIA, I polished my event design, coordination, management and production skills. Leading and working hands-on with my teams, we produced successful product launches, VIP client events and strategic marketing campaigns set forth by the brands.
